Weekly Wins!

This week was a little more scatter-brained and less productive than I wanted.  There was one day in particular when I was trying to set up various business accounts and it felt like all the websites were conspiring against me.  Can't pass captcha on this one (eff your handwritten fonts with "l"s, "I"s, and "1"s - just use a freaking word like normal people!), not eligible for an account with that bank, can't access bank account with that accounting website, and so on.  Also had to spend double the money on WordPress templates because the first one I bought was utter shit, and then it took me 2 days instead of the 1 I had planned to learn how to use it.  I think I've finally got everything sorted, but it's been hella frustrating.

Anyway, all that's to say that this is a particularly good week to focus on the wins and remember that a lot of things went right too!

The Wins!

  • Business blog - figured out the sidebar, added comments back in, found a beautiful search plugin, and added an email subscription form!
  • Got an email template built to start sending out monthly newsletters!  (First one going out tomorrow as kind of a test since I'm the only subscriber currently.  :P)
  • Found a good WP template and made it through the learning process to get my first client site ready!  (Planning on getting the finished site up next Friday.)

  • Signed Sister3 up to be my "accountabilibuddy" which she agreed to upon the condition that I would re-download snapchat for our sweaty workout selfies.  (Although so far we only used it for late-night Halloween festivities).

Happiness Project

  • Halloween party success!  We actually ended up with a pretty small group, but it was almost more fun because I got to truly spend time with and talk to everyone who attended (vs the ones where you're too busy running around hosting).  And I thoroughly enjoyed my themed foods.
  • Attended another Girl Develop It meetup and found ways to potentially contribute more to the community.  Also met the organizer of the WordPress meetup group, which I will definitely be attending at some point in the future!
  • Finished out my social month with a bang.  The first 2 months of the happiness project have been super successful.  Month 1 got my business moving again and month 2 got me some new social interaction and potential friends!

  • She's been doing this more and more but today I finally noticed - Toast wags her tail when I talk to her!  She still doesn't want to be petted or cuddled, but she definitely enjoys my attention and that's pretty huge.
  • Found a counselor I really like!  She's kind of in between therapist and life coach and she gives "homework" instead of just listening (as useful as that is sometimes).

Thoughts and Plans for Next Week

  • Switching gears for the new happiness project month and hopefully keeping up with work and home life a bit better.

What victories did you have last week?  What's in the works for the upcoming week?

  1. I LOVE those ghost strawberries and eye deviled eggs! SUPER cute!! It sounds like you had a pretty good handle on the week! Here's to another successful one!

  2. Sounds like you had a productive time with the site once you figured out the template. Those can be such a pain! Those strawberries look so good right now. Mmmmm my favorite! I am glad you had another successful month with your happiness project!

  3. yay for toast wagging her tail! that is awesome. it's such a fun feeling when you realise a pet is responding to you in a new way, especially with one like toast who has been through a lot. glad the halloween party was a success!

  4. The counselor that I have an ongoing relationship with for the last 6ish years gives me homework from time to time too.
I'm weird with snapchat. I'll go a week that I post something everyday. Then, I'm silent for a week.
    Hooray for wins!

Talk to me! I'm friendly. I won't bite.
